Safety program, pedestrian for kids

  • Amigos de la Educación and Bridgestone organized a Safety Pedestrian Program for grade schools, grades 1-3 in Guanacaste.
Our major sponsor, Bridgestone, supplied our Amigos volunteers with many types of educational materials to learn about safety thru games and activities.

The students learned the best way to be safe on the streets, riding the school bus and how to be a responsible pedestrian.

Tools that Bridgestone provided were coloring books, pencils, key chains and large visual signs with ALTO, SEMAFORO PEATONAL, SEMAFORO VEHICULAR, and REFLECTIVE BRACELETS for each student to wear. Many local volunteers supported this program and their help contributed to a fantastic success.

Amigos de la Educación reached at least 1,000 grade school students from 1st to 3rd grade from the Santa Rosa, Brasilito, El Llanito, Villarreal, Huacas, Portegolpe, Cartagena, La Garita Vieja and Matapalo grade schools.

Volunteers and grade school teachers were introduced and trained for the program at Amigos de la Educación office on July 21st. of 2012, We are planning to introduce this safety program annually to grade schools in Guanacaste.
